Eileen Armitage has been providing individualized academic tutoring and test preparation to high school students for over 25 years; she is also the founder of ETA Tutors. Eileen holds a bachelor’s degree in biology & chemistry from the University of Saint Catherine and a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Saint Thomas. Eileen has tutored as an undergraduate supplemental instructor and a master tutor supporting TRIO programs in community colleges. Since 1996, ETA Tutors has helped thousands of high school students improve their college entrance exams scores and transition to college.
Eileen completes student intakes, assigns students to tutors, manages the business, provides academic coursework support and college entrance exam preparation. She enjoys identifying and matching teaching strategies to fit the unique learning needs of each student. Eileen is passionate about coaching students through personal and academic challenges and supporting families as their children transition from high school to college.
Anna Barron is a graduate of Oberlin College in Ohio, majoring in mathematics and Hispanic studies. Anna provides ACT test preparation tutorials and tutors advanced mathematics to high school students.
Anna earned an International Baccalaureate diploma from Great River School, a Montessori public charter high school in St. Paul, Minnesota. She is committed to working alongside students in order to unlock their test-taking and academic potentials.
Madison Freeman is an experienced mentor, tutor and engineer who loves to help students achieve their full potential. Madison earned her bachelor’s and master’s degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is currently employed full-time with GE Medical as an engineering project manager.
Throughout her post-secondary education, she has tutored students in advanced mathematics and college entrance exam preparation, while also helping students develop study and time management skills. Madison is passionate about finding unique strategies to adopt to each student’s needs, working with students to see and meet their own goals, and engaging students to promote positivity and productivity while learning.
Annette Goeser began her career in business after earning her bachelor’s degree in business administration and later a master’s degree (MBA) from the University of Saint Thomas. After having children, she began working in her field of passion, education, where for the past 12 years she has been providing math and reading support in a local school district.
Whether in the school setting or tutoring, Annette strives to help each student recognize and build on their strengths, as well as develop strategies to help students improve their knowledge and confidence in areas of weakness. Her primary goal is to help students reach their full potential academically, while gaining confidence in their abilities to carry into the future.
Nancy McCarty worked in the education field for almost 10 years, prior to being a stay-at-home mom. Nancy holds a bachelor’s degree as a writing-intensive English major from Marquette University, which included working as a peer tutor in the writing center on campus, in addition to writing for various non-profit agencies.
After college, Nancy worked in Residence Life in a small college in Missouri as a hall director. Nancy also worked as an academic coordinator for the federally funded TRIO programs at the University of Minnesota and Saint Olaf College, working with low-income and first-generation college students, who attended various inner-city schools in Minneapolis and Saint Paul. Nancy worked with families and students to apply for financial aid, assist with scholarship applications, and manage the college application process.
Nancy works with students and shares their enthusiasm for the future by helping guide their undergraduate admissions journeys through college research, planning, application and essay support. She is passionate about helping each student navigate his or her unique path based on their personal goals and aspirations.
Kris Noel brings a lifelong passion and extensive experience teaching young adults to ETA Tutors. Kris helps students find their unique gifts in order to reach their potentials. She earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and worked in manufacturing and production optimization for nine years. Kris then transitioned to stay home full-time to raise her six children. During this time, Kris worked with students in various teaching capacities from religious education to volunteer roles in schools. She and her husband, Gary, are co-owners of a precision machining and manufacturing company in Minneapolis.
Kris recognizes that each student is unique and works to get to know each student individually, while bringing a customized approach to her tutoring. She works tirelessly to engage students and inspire them to learn the necessary skills, habits, and strategies to enable their success in reaching the goals set together in session.
Sonia Gloege is a Mahtomedi High School graduate pursuing degrees in economics and global affairs at the University of Notre Dame as an undergraduate student in the Class of 2025.
As a professional tutor, Sonia supports high school students—in their pursuit of academic excellence—while helping them reach their full potentials. She strives to relate and connect to students to understand their unique needs in order to provide exceptional, individualized and customized tutoring.
Since Sonia recently completed college applications and standardized entrance exam testing herself, she is familiar with the challenges and opportunities of these processes. Ultimately, Sonia hopes to create a tutoring environment and experience that sets each student up for lasting learning, growth--and celebration--rather than stress.
Abby Noel graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in statistics and a minor in education. Currently, Abby is a middle school math teacher at St. Jude of the Lake School in Mahtomedi, Minnesota. Abby provides ACT test preparation as well as tutoring at any math level for your student.
Having been through college preparation in recent years, Abby has first-hand knowledge of what it is like to be a student preparing for the next steps beyond high school. She has always had a passion for connecting with students individually to customize each tutoring session to the student's specific needs in order to unlock their full potential academically and beyond.

ETA Tutors offer customizable, one-on-one college entrance exam and academic tutorials in addition to college application, search and essay support. The tutoring team teaches organizational and time management skills and serves students with unique learning differences including personal and attention challenges or anxiety. All services are a la carte: many student clients receive college planning, application and essay support following college exam preparation or academic tutoring.
ETA Tutors believe each student has unique and special gifts. Our tutoring team navigates each student’s academic journey through proprietary tutorials and simplified, intentional, learning plans. We expect ownership and accountability and help students acquire transferable learning skills for future academic journeys and next life steps.
